Correction officer declared brain dead after attack

A Scotts Bluff County corrections officer has been declared brain dead after being attacked at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center by a 15-year-old inmate.

As of press time, Torrington teen Dylan Cardeilhac faces charges of attempted murder, a Class II felony, Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner said. Warner said the teen allegedly attacked Amanda Baker, a corrections officer, at about 2 a.m., strangling her.
