Byron “B.J.” Wilkinson has been announced as the next leader of the Sidney Police Department. Wilkinson is serving as the Litchfield, Ill., police chief and will join the Sidney department in July.

SIDNEY — The City of Sidney has announced that a new police chief will head its 24-member police department, beginning in July.

Byron “B.J.” Wilkinson, of Litchfield, Ill., has been selected as Sidney’s new police chief. Sidney City Manager Gary Person announced the selection at Tuesday’s city council meeting and in a press release Wednesday.
