Transplant patient: Recovery going well

A 34-year-old recovering from a pancreas transplant at his
mother’s home in Gering is doing well, he said this week.
Dave Nowatzke, who grew up in Gering, underwent a pancreas
transplant Nov. 24. He spent three weeks in a North Platte
hospital, recovering from the surgery meant to help curb his
diabetes. Nowatzke has suffered from diabetes for much of his
life, said his mother, Vi Reitz.
