Gering Police continue to search for a Wyoming man who has been missing since Saturday, July 6.

Chance Englebert, of Moorcroft, Wyoming, was reported missing over the weekend. Englebert was last seen on video Saturday at 7:51 p.m. His phone pinged on Owl Rd. at 8:30 p.m.

Englebert’s wife Baylee, said her husband left after becoming upset.

Authorities spent Monday, Tuesday morning and Wednesday searching for the man. Searchers have focused on conducting coordinated searches around the southwest portion of Scottsbluff and northwest portions Terrytown and Gering. Gering Police Capt. Jason Rogers said more than 50 people were involved in search efforts Monday.

“We’re trying to do the best we can with the information we’ve got,” he said. “If this was a family member of mine, I would hope they’d be looking and that’s exactly what we’re doing. We’re out doing the best we can.”

On Wednesday, the family issued a plea to the public for help. Chance’s mother, Dawn Englebert, spoke during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

“We just ask anybody to send any information (to authorities),” she said, crying and choking back tears. “Somebody had to see something and know something. This just isn’t Chance.”

She added that Chance would have left home for a couple hours to clear his head before returning home to his son, wife and family.

Rogers said search crews were out Wednesday surveying areas around Gering, including the badlands on Scotts Bluff National Monument property, the Bellevue addition and on Owl Road near the North Platte River.

A reward has been offered for Englebert and Dawn said the funds have been donated by people in the Scottsbluff, Gering, Edgemont, South Dakota, Torrington and Gillette, Wyoming, communities.

If anyone saw someone walking Saturday evening during the thunderstorm around 9-9:15 p.m. to contact Gering police at 308-436-5089.
