Hemingford Volunteer Fireman

The organizers of the August 14, 2019 Blood Drive in Hemingford had anticipated a reduction in the number of donors but once again the community showed their dedication to such a worthy cause and sent 52 units of blood back to Scottsbluff. The West Nebraska Blood Center (WNBC) knew and understood the challenges that were facing many donors but never once considered cancelling the drive. When the dates were set in late 2018 no one anticipated wheat harvest coinciding with the blood drive.

Jaydon Walker was the only first time donor and there were four deferrals. Interestingly enough, half of the deferrals were to 2019 seniors that received vaccinations as they move on to their college education.

The following people contributed to the remaining 51 units collected; Amanda Chancellor, Amy Honstein, Barb Grant, Barb Keegan, Betsy Sorensen, Brandi Burke, Bruce Engel, Bruce Winten, Dave Timmens, Dave Paris, Deb Campbell, Deb Kumpf, Dena Paris, Dennis Folkerts, Diana Smith, Donna Engel, Emily Knote, Gary Gettert, Jeff Schumacher, Jim Keegan, Joei Cullan, John Annen, John Hoffman, John Prochazka, Jo Buchheit, Kami Wills, Katie Dannar, Kay Specht, Kim Wills, Lori Dannar, Martin Schumacher, Melissa Haas, Michele Isom, Michelle Kluver, Mike Honstein, Pat McMahon, Randy Wood, Rex Horstman, Rhonda Swanson, Rick Horstman, Rick Wobig, Robbie Buchheit, Rodney Planansky, Rod Prochazka, Roger Davies, Ryan Dannar, Shad Bryner, Stacey Dillard, Susan Morava, Tabi Bryner and Vy Prochazka.

The HVFD wishes to thank everyone that participated in the recent blood drive, it would not possible to host an event such as this without the support of the entire community. The next Blood Drive is November 13, 2019 with texts going out about two weeks in advance. Have a safe school year and fall.
