Blood drive coming up

This time of the year is busy for everyone and many of us know the need for blood is constant. Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed daily in the United States as well as nearly 7,000 units of platelets and 10,000 units of plasma. The Hemingford Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) is doing their part by hosting the third Blood Drive in 2019 on August 14th from 07:20 to 12:30 at the Hemingford Fire Hall. The West Nebraska Blood Center (WNBC) will doing the blood collection and the units collected will stay in this area. If you are feeling well, weigh at least 115 pounds and are 17 years of age or older (16 with parental consent), please consider donating blood to restock the local supply.

You may go online to www.volunteersignup.org/HE74P to reserve a time for your donation. If you do not have access to an electronic device, you may call Jim at 308-760-4503 or Barb at 308-760-0804 to assist you in this process. The early time slots fill quickly so make your reservation now; walk-ins are always welcome but you may have to wait a bit for the scheduled ones to be completed. The roster will be sent to WNBC on August 12th.
