Cross Country starts off strong

With almost 400 athletes competing at the meet, the Hemingford athletes did really well and help up against a lot of strong competition. Other teams present were Sidney, Gering, Mitchell, Scottsbluff, Chadron, Bridgeport, Alliance, Morrill, Kimball, and Mullen.

Carlye Kresl, our only Jr. High runner on the girls side, was the first to step up to the starting line. She placed 15th out of 74 runners with a time of 14:11 in the 3k race.

Out of the 84 runners in their race, Dawson Christopherson led the way for the Jr. High Bobcats placing 19th with a time of 13:09. Boady Hunter placed 32nd with a time of 13:52, Nathan Randolph was 63rd with a time of 16:12, Gavin Bell was 69th with a time of 17:02, and Drew Varner was 70th with a 17:08.

Girls Varsity was next up on the course and Jori Stewart led the way for the Bobcats in the 5k race. There were 107 girls in the competition and Jori placed 23rd with a time of 23:51. She earned a medal for being in the top 25. Catherine Bryner came in 42nd with a time of 25:47.

In the Varsity Boys Race, Jacob Clouse crossed the finish line first for the Bobcats. Out of the 131 runners in the race, he placed 43rd with a time of 20:54. Jaydon Walker was 49th with a time of 21:08, John Ansley was 50th with a time of 21:16, Zane Hinman was 65th at 22:02, Braden Christopherson was 84th at 23:15, Isaiah Bryner finished at 23:42, Luke Honstein at 24:38, and Taren Hunter finished with a time of 31:25.

Next Friday the Bobcats travel to Gering to compete at the Five Rocks Amphitheater. Races start at 11:00AM.
