A Guernsey, Wyoming, man convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to 12 to 20 years imprisonment.

In May, a Scotts Bluff County District Court jury convicted Larry B. Senteney, 67, on two counts sexual assault of a child in the third-degree, a Class IIIA felony; one count of attempted incest; and a count of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a minor. Senteney appeared for sentencing Thursday.

Charges against Senteney stemmed from a child abuse and neglect intake received by Scottsbluff Police in November 2017 from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services regarding a 19-year-old girl. The girl had alleged that a relative had sexually assaulted her when she was 14 years old. Six incidents were reported by the woman, who had told a mental health provider in November 2017 that she had been sexually assaulted.

During the investigation, it was determined that incidents had occurred in Platte County, Wyoming, and Scotts Bluff County.

Senteney was sentenced to three to five years imprisonment on each of the four counts. His sentences were ordered to be served consecutively. He was given credit for 322 days already served in jail.

With good time and the credit for time already served, Senteney will likely serve about five years imprisonment.

Senteney was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
