A Scottsbluff man suffered three fractures to his face after being struck by another man during a fight on June 15.

Police arrested one of the men, Leo Mousseaux, 24. Mousseaux has been charged with first-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, both Class II felonies.

According to an arrest affidavit, police responded to the 2500 block of Avenue D at about 10:38 a.m. on June 15 after a fight was reported to be in progress. One of the men was bleeding profusely from the nose and appeared to have a broken nose. The man told police he was unable to determine who hit him, but someone had struck him with a bottle.

The man’s brother alleged he had been struck by a glass bottle by Mousseaux.

Police observed a glass 375 ml bottle of Jose Cuervo in the street and believed the injuries the man suffered to be consistent with having been struck with the bottle.

Medical personnel advised that the man had sustained three fractures to his face, two fractures to his nose and a fractured jaw.

Mousseaux was arraigned Monday on charges in Scotts Bluff County Court and bond in the case has been set at $15,000. He is next scheduled to appear in court on June 21 for a preliminary hearing.
