A juvenile who fled from authorities in Mitchell Sunday has been taken into custody.

The juvenile boy,  who is facing burglary charges in Scotts Bluff County, had been being transferred from a juvenile detention facility in Madison, Nebraska, to a detention camp in Wyoming, according to information released by the Sheriff Mike Rath of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman confirmed Sunday that the juvenile had been being transported by a private transport company when a stop was made at a Mitchell convenience store. The teen was allowed to use the restroom without restraints or being observed and fled.

According to the details released by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the teen allegedly stole a vehicle in Mitchell, abandoned that vehicle in Hyannis, where he allegedly stole a second vehicle in Hyannis. He drove that vehicle to Merrick County, Nebraska, where he abandoned it. The teen is suspected of stealing a third vehicle before he was apprehended.

The Nebraska State Patrol apprehended the boy at a Madison residence Monday at about 7 a.m. (CT).
