SCOTTSBLUFF — Region 1 Behavioral Health Authority, Board of Directors and staff welcomed its newly appointed regional administrator. Susanna Batterman, Morrill County commissioner and board chair for Region 1 Behavioral Health Authority, announced that Holly Brandt has been appointed as the regional administrator, effective May 17.
In a press release, Brandt said: “I am honored and excited to have been appointed as the new regional administrator for Region 1 Behavioral Health Authority. It is a privilege to be part of an organization that provides quality behavioral health and substance abuse services for the residents of the Panhandle through a network of committed providers. We have a great team of dedicated and caring professionals at Region 1 and I look forward to the positive impact we can make for the residents in our communities.”
Brandt succeeds Barbara Vogel, who retired from Region 1 in May, to move with her family. Brandt’s leadership appointment was part of a rigorous and comprehensive nationwide search conducted through Zelle HR Solutions. Brandt has 18 years of leadership experience, and prior to her appointment to Region 1, was the executive director at CAPstone Child Advocacy Center.
During Brandt’s time at CAPstone, she was responsible for a successful capital campaign to expand the CAPstone facility, doubling the annual operating budget, and expanding the services offered by CAPstone to the communities in the Panhandle. Brandt has served as the vice chair for the Nebraska Alliance of Child Advocacy Centers, the co-chair for the Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, Board of Directors for the Nebraska Children’s Commission and served on the Board of Directors for Region 1 Behavioral Health Authority Advisory Board. Brandt grew up in Bayard and has remained in the Panhandle.
“The Governing Board is very pleased to have Holly filling the leadership position at Region 1,” Batterman said. “It has been a smooth transition and the board is confident she will continue the reputation of excellence that our region has established not only locally but statewide in coordinating services with providers throughout the Panhandle in the areas of mental and substance abuse programming” and substance abuse services.
Region 1, is a political subdivision of the State of Nebraska, and is responsible for organizing and supervising comprehensive mental health and substance abuse services in the 11 counties of the Panhandle. Region 1 is governed by a board of county commissioners, who are elected officials, one from each of the 11 counties served. Region 1 is one of six behavioral health authorities in Nebraska.
Region 1 BHA’s responsibilities are to develop a provider network, provide service coordination, program planning, financial and contractual management, evaluation and quality review of all mental health and substance abuse services funded through our network of providers. Region 1 is also responsible for prevention, disaster coordination, emergency and housing services in the Panhandle.
