Charles F. Fitzke, 89, of Omaha, died on June 9, 2019 at his home surrounded by family.

Mr. Fitzke was born on August 2, 1929 to Fredric & Elizabeth Fitzke in Harvard, NE. Charles graduated from Sutton High School, served in the military during the Korean War as a First Lieutenant in the Artillery Division. He attended law school at the University of Nebraska and graduated in 1953. He practiced law in Scottsbluff County, NE. During his career, he held several positions including County Attorney, Public Defender, County Coroner and served on the Mental Health Board. Charles married Elinor Schlaebitz on July 29, 1949.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elinor; sister, Bernita.

Survived by his children, Brian (Kim) Fitzke, Joe (Resa) Fitzke, Linda (Doug) Cook, Jon (Kim) Fitzke; sister, Donna Hinrichs; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Charles’ Life will be 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln 68510. Inurnment will be in Wyuka Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
