Dorothy Miller, 85, of Gering, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Regional West Medical Center. Cremation was held. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 1 at the Gering United Methodist Church with Reverend Lauren D Ekdahl officiating. A private inurnment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorials have been established to the Festival of Hope and Gering United Methodist Church. Dorothy was born Sept. 2, 1929, to B.A. and Esther Olson in White River, South Dakota. She graduated from White River High School in 1947. Upon graduation, Dorothy attended Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colorado, where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1951.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Ted Miller, Jr. on June 27, 1954, in Gering. She taught in the Gering school system for 30 years.
Dorothy was a member of PEO Chapter EV and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also served as President of the Panhandle Quilt Guild.
Survivors include daughter Dee (Tom) Butler, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, sons Ted III (fiancée Ellen Combs) and Max (Colleen), and daughter Jan (Jim) Zitterkopf ,all of Scottsbluff; brothers Gene Olson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Russ of Murdo, South Dakota, and John Olson of California, and grandchildren, Brittany Mullins, Michael, Alaina, Gabriel, Josiah, and Rebekah Butler, Emily Miller, and Allison McMann and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ted, three brothers and one grandson.
