Recruiting: Husker DL target Nash Hutmacher eyes July decision date

Nebraska may have to wait until July for a final decision from one of its top recruiting targets.

Chamberlain (S.D.) defensive tackle Nash Hutmacher told The World-Herald on Sunday he expects to wait until July before he chooses between the Huskers, Wisconsin and Oregon. Hutmacher visited all three schools over three months, culminating with a visit to the Badgers last Friday.

“Just the people and the culture of the school,” Hutmacher said when asked about his final decision criteria. He did not have a favorite visit of the three.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman could play either side of the ball. Nebraska wants him for defense. So does Wisconsin.

One reason Hutmacher is waiting: He has Junior National Duals, held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, June 18-22.

Nebraska is slated to host another defensive recruit, Carroll Kuemper (Iowa) outside linebacker Blaise Gunnerson, this weekend as it holds its first Friday Night Lights camp of the summer.
