Former Husker All-American James Green advances to Final X: Lincoln

Former Husker All-American James Green again advanced to Final X: Lincoln, winning the 70-kilogram championship at the U.S. senior freestyle world team trials Sunday.

Green defeated Anthony Ashnault, who was the NCAA champion at 149 pounds for Rutgers in March, by technical fall in 30 seconds in the first match of a best-of-three series. Ashnault was injured and defaulted from the second match.

Green will wrestle Northwestern’s Ryan Deakin in Lincoln on June 15. The winner makes the U.S. World Team.

Also competing in Final X: Lincoln will be former Husker and Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs.
