Tyler Berger, Taylor Venz pin ranked opponents to lift No. 7 Nebraska past No. 13 Illinois

LINCOLN — Pins over ranked opponents by Nebraska's Tyler Berger and Taylor Venz propelled the seventh-ranked Huskers to a 31-9 dual win over No. 13 Illinois on Sunday at the Devaney Center.

Berger, ranked second nationally at 157 pounds, led 12th-ranked Eric Barone 4-1 before recording his pin with 22 seconds left.

Venz, ranked fifth at 184, then picked up Nebraska's biggest win of the day as he pinned second-ranked Emery Parker 33 seconds into the third period.

Illinois won the dual's first three matches and led 9-0 before Nebraska won the final seven.

Nebraska wrestles at Rutgers on Friday before hosting Iowa on Feb. 3.
